This week representatives of the Cabinet Office of the Japanese government, and the Public Sector Consulting Group of Fujitsu were meeting experts of Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Knowledge Institute for Mobility Policy , and Dutch Rail Sector. The Japanese tour was hosted by the Dutch Cycling Embassy.
The Japanese visitors are engaged in developing a national plan for cycling and pedestrian safety. They believe that the Netherlands can offer important lessons in this regard. A related subject of discussion has been the enhancement of cycling in Japan. Since Japan operate extensive railway networks the Dutch Train Cycling System is considered to be an inspiring and useful example and it was seriously discussed during the meeting.
The Dutch Train Cycling System is one of the DRS’ pilots in Asia.
